The district heating (DH) system is an element of the flexible energy system, maximising energy savings, emissions reductions and benefiting the regional power grid. District heating plants can provide higher efficiencies and better pollution control than localized boilers.

To increase the smart interaction and smart management of the DH, a smart new building will be constructed during the MAtchUP project and connected to the DH. With the actual existing infrastructure new users will be beneficed by the central energy management, increasing efficiency and decreasing costs.
