As part of the MatchUP project, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality organised a workshop to prepare the Sustainable Energy Action and Climate Adaptation Plan (SECAP) for the city. The event looked at greenhouse gas data resources and the efforts of local authorities on climate change. A roadmap for the implementation of the plan was established.
Drawing on the Horizon 2020 project MAtchUP, the Metropolitan Municip
ality continues to work towards more liveable districts by fostering greater energy efficiency. Antalya is one of the leading cities in this European project, which aims at urban transformation by increasing the share of renewable energy, developing sustainable mobility and investing in technology.
More specifically, the workshop reviewed the current Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP) whose goals were set out in 2012. Delegates discussed which data is required for the new SECAP.
FIRST MUNICIPALITY TO PREPARE SUSTAINABLE ENERGY PLAN
Antalya Metropolitan Municipality was the first city in Turkey to set out a Sustainable Energy Action Plan and it has integrated the fight against climate change into its sustainability policy. The new SECAP sets out how much reduction in CO2 should be reached by 2030 and 2050 in line with criteria laid down by the Covenant of Mayors of which the municipality is a member.
