A smart city is a place where traditional networks and services are made more efficient with the use of digital and telecommunication technologies for the benefit of its inhabitants and business. A Smart City goes beyond the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) for better resource use and less emissions. It means smarter urban transport networks, upgraded water supply and waste disposal facilities and more efficient ways to light and heat buildings. It also means a more interactive and responsive city administration, safer public spaces and meeting the needs of an ageing population. (European Commission)
Last 3rd and 4th July, SAMPAS, the Turkish company providing innovative information technology solutions and services and MAthcUP partner, organised a big event in the Turkey capital city of Ankara addressing the future of Turkish Smart Cities and presenting the leading innovations in this area. The event was attended by 469 people from all around Turkey and by international partners. The event, addressing mostly the Local Authorities and Municipalities in Turkey, Ministries and some private companies, saw the participation of more than 150 municipalities (Mayors, Deputy Mayors, Secretary Generals, Directors, decision makers, advisors, etc.), the President of Turkish Municipalities Union, several members from the Turkish Parliament and Turkish Governors. On the other hand, some big international partners participated at the event, like HUAWEI, Plastic Energy, CREC.
“The fair was a great success. The fair area numbered a total of 21 booths and one of them was dedicated to Horizon Projects that SAMPAS takes part in. It was a big opportunity for SAMPAS to disseminate and promote MAtchUP project, to inform most of the participants about what the company does in MAtchUP and how the project can contribute to the current and future Smart Cities’ scenario” says Mr. Serdar Yumlu, Business Development Director at SAMPAS.
The event was also also an occasion to underline the 40 years of experience of SAMPAS in the Municipal Sector in Turkey and its numerous value-added solutions for building today’s Intelligent Cities.
