The Valencia City Council, through the Las Naves innovation centre, has launched the “Majors sobre rodes” (“old people over wheels”) initiative, to promote active ageing in all those old people who want to feel the sensation of riding a bike again regardless of their physical condition.

The councillor for innovation of the Valencia City Council, Carlos Galiana, explained that “thanks to Majors sobre rodes, the community can see how innovation contributes to improving their quality of life, through a personalised, sustainable, safe and free service” – he continues – “this initiative is a sort of therapy to fight loneliness and isolation. It’s a dynamic activity, a journey through the city in the company of friends and volunteers.”

The electric bicycles have a range of 30 km and a capacity for two seats each, plus the driver.
The service is safe and in compliance with the current health regulations.

Anyone who wants to participate can do so by writing an email to majorssobrerodes@lasnaves.com or by contacting the number 644 76 87 19 by phone or WhatsApp and thus specify the schedule, route, ride time and pick-up location.
